Ruth Madeline Caverhill
Ruth M. Caverhill of Nackawic, NB, wife of the late Eugene Caverhill, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2021 at MacLeod Riverside Court in Woodstock, NB. Ruth was born at Southampton, NB in 1915, the daughter of the late Perley and Bessie (MacDonald) Cronkhite. She began working at the age of sixteen years when she was called to be relief operator, working her way to Chief Operator for the New Brunswick Telephone Company. She married Eugene in 1942, who had joined the Canadian Forces, and accompanied him to his postings in several Ontario locations. When he received his final call to go overseas Ruth joined her sister-in-law and went to Bouchard, Quebec to work in an ammunition factory filling bullets with T.N.T. From 1954 to 1966 she and Eugene operated a grocery store in Lower Southampton and then until her retirement worked as a waitress and in retail sales at several places in Nackawic. She was a member of the Nackawic United Baptist Church and taught Sunday School. Was also a member of the Womens Baptist Missionary Society and enjoyed quilting.

Ruth is survived by her twin sons, Paul Caverhill (Anne) and Peter Caverhill (Robin); her grandchildren, Marisa (Tom), Bruce (Amie), Brennan (Olena) and Mike (Sandra); her great grandchildren, Jackson, Bennett, Emma, Sarah and Daniel; special friends, Laurie and Clinton Conrad and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by three brothers, Arnold, Allen and Carl Cronkhite.

Visiting hours were held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic, NB on Thursday, July 8, 2021 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. followed by a funeral service in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Dan Grove officiating. A eulogy was delivered by Ruth's son Paul and a poem was read by granddaughter Marisa. Music was provided by Clinton and Laurie Conrad. Interment took place at Otis Cemetery.
