Evelyn Winnifred Craine
Evelyn W. Craine of Dumfries, NB passed away on November 13, 2016 at York Care Centre. Evelyn was born at Wicklow, NB in 1931, a daughter of the late Frederick and Ella (Gee) Smith.

Evelyn graduated from Centreville High School in 1949 and from Victoria Public Hospital as a Registered Nurse in 1952. She was a life member of the NB Women’s Institute and in 2003, was named Outstanding Volunteer of the Dumfries WI. In 2005, Dumfries Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary named her as Member of the Year for Outstanding Volunteer Service. Following retirement in 1994, Evelyn accumulated 1829 volunteer hours with the DECH Auxiliary. She was a member of the Riverside United Church, Prince William.

She is survived by her children, Carol Steeves (Allan), Port Arthur, Texas, Ann Rosengren (John), Hanwell, NB and David Craine (Odette), Newmarket, NB; grandchildren, Amanda Hebert (Joe), Allison Pierce (Garrett), Scott Rosengren, Michael Rosengren (Jennifer Young), Sonya Ward (Ryan) and Brian Craine (Keri); four great grandchildren, Georgia Hebert, Cole, Nolan and Evelyn Ward; a sister, Vera Reid (late Frank), Knoxford, NB; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Perley Crain, Frank Crain (Gail), Clifford Crain, Phyllis Crain, Maisie Crain, Eleanor Louise Craine and Viena Smith; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Earl Craine in 1997; a brother, Frederick Smith and several brothers and sisters-in-law.

A funeral service was held on Sunday, November 20, 2016 from Flewelling Funeral Home chapel with Alice Finnamore of the Prince William Pastoral Charge officiating. Members of Evelyn's family took part in the service. The eulogy was delivered by David Craine and Allison Pierce. Ann Rosengren read a poem and scripture was read by Allison Pierce, Amanda Hebert and Carol Steeves. Cathy Hutch and John Rosengren sang and additional music was provided by Danny Crain, Cathie Mean and Violet Paisley. Interment took place at Barony Cemetery followed by a reception at the Dumfries Fire Hall.

Pallbearers were Scott Rosengren, Michael Rosengren, Fraser Ingraham, Ryan Ward, Dylan Reid and Mark Reid.
