Joseph Armstrong Fletcher
Joe A. Fletcher of Magaguadavic Lake, NB passed away on June 2, 2018 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Joe was born on July 20, 1930 at Fredericton, NB, a son of the late Joseph Sr. and Pamela (Brown) Fletcher.
Joe was a member of All Saints Anglican Church, serving as a Layreader for the Parish of Prince William. He was a member of Harvey Seniors Club and an active participant at the Church suppers and Harvey Fair suppers. Joe enjoyed carpentry and wreath making. He was a past member of the Local school board and Harvey Hospital Board.
He is survived by his children, Joseph Fletcher Jr., Fredericton, NB, Gloria Fletcher (Greg), Magaguadavic Lake, NB, Marilyn Fletcher, Saint John, NB, John Fletcher (Iris), Meteghan, NS, Mary Lou Fletcher (Joe), Saint John, NB and Sandra Fletcher (Rick), Timmins, ON; seven grandchildren, Stewart Glaspy (Wendy), Saint John, NB, Scott Wilson, Saint John, NB, Daniel Glaspy, (Julie), James, Andrew (Amanda), Luke and Josie; ten great grandchildren, Alex, Isaiah, Dara, Dominic, Hannah, Brooklyn, Aaron, Amber, Mia and Jamie; a sister, Bertie Coy, Fredericton, NB; sisters-in-law, Penny Fletcher, Roxie Hood, Mary Hood and Barbara Embleton; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Berneice (Hood) Fletcher; a son-in-law, Douglas; a great granddaughter, Charley; siblings, Josephine, Douglas, Edward and George.
Visiting hours were held at Swan Funeral Chapel, 1826 Route 3, Harvey Station, NB the day previous to the funeral service which was held at All Saints Anglican Church, Church Road, Magaguadavic, NB on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 with Rev. David Mercer officiating. Others taking part in the service with readings were Joe Fletcher Jr., Gloria Fletcher, and Martin MacMullen. Music for communion was provided by Albert Hood and Raymond Glaspy and additional music by the church choir with Kathy Albert as organist. A reception followed at All Saints Community Hall. Interment took place at Pine Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Stewart Glaspy, Scott Wilson, Daniel Glaspy, James Wilson, Andrew Glaspy and Isaiah Kennedy.
In lieu of flowers, for those who wish to make a donation in memory of Joe, the family has suggested the Anglican Parish of Prince William, NB Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice.
