Stuart Leslie Mills
1934-2023
Stuart will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Lucille; children, Sylvia (Darren) Reid, Perrin Mills, Ann (Steven) Kitching, Leslie (Jacquee) Mills, Sarah (Paul) Callaghan; grandchildren, Chloe, Sephora (Nigel), Kyoko, Assiah, Simone, Jacob, Brynn (Griffon), Nate, Nick, Sophia and Zoe; great-grandchildren, Milah and Wyatt; sister Laura Frankland (late Merritt) and sister-in-law Sylvia Colpitts (late Lawrence); nephews Kevin (Melissa) and Reed (April).
Stuart was predeceased by his parents, Spafford and Ethel (Ritchie) Mills and brother Ellery.
Stuart was a loving father as well as donating blood (part of the 100+ donations club), driving neighbours to their appointments; teaching Sunday School, Sunday School Superintendent, treasurer, Elder and Deacon of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church; serving as treasurer to the NBTA; board member of the South-side Co-op; and a founding member of the NBTA Credit Union. He wrote letters to the editor and the Daily Gleaner named him Poet Laureate for his limericks. He was a devoted and entertaining high school teacher.
A funeral service was held at Brunswick Street Baptist Church, Fredericton, NB on Saturday, April 1, 2023 with Rev. Greg Geldart officiating. Stuart's family wrote Words of Tribute and they were read by Rev. Geldart. Scripture was read by a nephew, Reed Frankland. Music was provided by soloist David Steeves with Gloria Tranquilla as pianist. Pallbearers were his grandchildren, Chloe Reid, Sephora Reid, Kyoko Reid, Assiah Reid, Simone Kitching, Jacob Mills, Brynn Mills, Nate Mills, Nick Mills, Sophia Mills and Zoe Geburt. A reception followed at the church. Interment will be at a later date at St. Stephen Rural Cemetery.
