David George Corey
1941-2024
Active in the Masons and Shriners, David was a Past Master of Granite Lodge #54 and had associations with many Masonic lodges and charities including the Shriners Hospitals for Children. He attended Cronkhite School and was a graduate of Horton Academy in Wolfville, NS. After graduation, he continued on to Maritime Forest Ranger School in Fredericton. He was a craftsman, locksmith, farmer, cruiser, and businessman. He could fix anything, and was always available to offer help and advice to those who needed it. These skills came in handy in his endeavors as a restauranteur at the Red Carpet Restaurant, and as the previous owner of Sunset Park Campground and the Nackawic Home Hardware Building Centre. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, and gardening, and was well known as the ‘Apple Man’ at Kings Landing Historical Settlement. David enjoyed researching family history and had recently published a book of family stories. Most of all, David loved spending time with his family, sharing a good meal and a bit of humour.
He is survived by his wife, Edna K. (Love) Corey; his children, Edwin Corey (Janice), Kathy Gaudet (Robert) and Brenda Dunne (Thomas); grandchildren, Kelsie (Douglas), Fenton (Nona), Isaac (Naomi), Connor (Josilyn), Emma (James), Jacob (Gillian), Zachary (Samantha), Chaz (Keiko), Kai (Kenten), Delaney, Shane and Kathleen; great grandchildren, Jules, Jac Lily, Temperance, Simeon, Ella, Keiji and Grayson; brothers-in-law, Vernon Love and Edwin Love (Zula) and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by his sisters, Dr. Margaret Corey and Marion Kirkpatrick (late Howard); his Love in-laws, Della Crain (late Perley), Lewis Love (late Eileen), George Love, Mary Montgomery (late Donald) and Alleen Love.
