Rose Blanche (Craig) Wilkin of Harvey, York Co., NB passed away at Hospice Fredericton on March 6, 2025 after a battle with cancer. Rose was born in Fredericton Junction, NB on August 1, 1942, a daughter of the late Arthur and Edna (Vail) Craig.

After graduating from Harvey High School in 1960, Rose was employed with The Royal Bank of Canada in Fredericton, NB.

In 1963, she married John (Jack) Wilkin who also worked for The Royal Bank. They lived in Saint John, Fredericton and Sackville, NB, Montreal and Toronto. During this period of their lives, they enjoyed meeting people from every walk of life; but when Jack retired in 1996, they moved ‘back home’ to Harvey Lake to make it their last permanent home and to give support to their parents.

Rose loved nature with its changing seasons; she liked to garden and watch the sunsets over Harvey Lake. She and Jack were able to spend some winter time in Florida and had some interesting trips to see beauty in other parts of the world.

She was a member of The United Church of Canada, a life member of the United Church Women, a member of The Liberal Party of Canada and volunteered with the Canadian Red Cross and Harvey Community Network.

Rose’s family was important to her. She is survived by a brother Hollie Craig; a sister Lynne Isherwood (Trevor); sisters-in-law, Katherine Wilkin and Sheila Gollan; nephews Ian Craig (Michelle), Craig Isherwood (Jill), Michael Gollan (Lori); nieces, Sheena Craig, Kim Tebrugge (Warren), Marsha Mariani (Peter) and several great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to her parents, Rose was predeceased by her husband Jack Wilkin on August 4, 2022 and a sister-in-law Ruth Craig on July 25, 2023.

During her illness, Rose often expressed her gratitude for the care and help she received from doctors and nurses, immediate family, church family, community, friends and neighbours. She said they were her angels on earth. Her family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Hospice Fredericton for their excellent care and service provided to Rose in her final days.

For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Rose, the family has suggested the St. Andrews United Church, Harvey Community Hospital Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice.
