Cory Dean Johnston
1969-2026
Born and raised in McAdam, Cory spent his life surrounded by lifelong friends and the community he loved.. McAdam was always home - the place where he grew up, worked for more than 20 years, and built countless memories.
Cory enjoyed the simple things in life and was happiest outdoors. He loved fishing, riding side-by-sides, and spending time at the camp. Whether gathered around a fire, out on the trails, or relaxing by the water, those were the moments he cherished most. He never passed up a good snack, especially one of Rosie’s or Russell’s home-cooked meals. He also enjoyed a good game of crib and spending time with the lifelong friends who meant so much to him.
Above all, Cory shared 26 years with his wife, Stacey - the love of his life and his very best friend. Their relationship was built on laughter, playful teasing, and always finding comfort in one another, no matter what life brought their way.
He treasured the time spent with his daughter, Rebecca “Adam,” more than anything and was a proud Papa to Sage and Summer whom he loved with all his heart and never stopped talking about.
Tall, strong, stubborn, and always the source of a laugh, Cory had a presence that filled a room. Beneath that rough exterior was a soft and caring heart. He was fiercely loyal to the people he loved and will be remembered for his humour, kindness, and ability to make others laugh.
Cory is predeceased by his father and one brother.
He leaves behind a tremendous emptiness in the lives of those who loved him most including two siblings and several nieces and nephews. He cherished his mother, Arlene; his beloved dog, Jersey; and the many friends who became family over the years.
