Daniel Edward Burchill
1941-2026
Born in St. Martins, NB on February 28, 1941, he was the last surviving member of the five children born to the late Gladys (MacDonald) and Walter Burchill. Often mistaken as a ‘tripper’, Danny was predeceased by his twin brothers, David and Dougie Burchill; sisters Margaret Rose Rogers (late Gordon) and Patsy Craft (late Norman); and brother-in-law Daniel Hooper (late Connie).
He leaves a piece of himself behind in our hearts and will live on through his wife of 62 years, Carolyn Hooper Burchill; his daughter and son-in-law, Shelly and Tom Bradsell Jr.; his grandchildren, Melinda Ianacone, Tamara Bustard-Caballero and Brandon Caballero; great grandson Wiley Ianacone; sisters-in-law, Jeannie Burchill and Audrey Burchill; and his mother-in-law Doris MacDonald. He is already greatly missed by all who were lucky to know him and were surrounded by his kindness and love.
Daniel was a man whose life was defined by hard work, service, and kindness. He proudly served as a gunner in the Canadian Army before beginning his career at Saint John General Hospital as a nursing orderly. He later worked at Saint John Drydock and eventually at the St. Anne Pulp and Paper Mill, where he dedicated 29 years of service and retired as Chief of Security and Head of First Aid.
No matter where life took him, helping others was always second nature to Danny. Whether lending a hand to a neighbour, stopping to help someone in need, or responding without hesitation when a car struck a moose, he was always someone people could count on.
Danny had a deep love for animals and cherished the many furry companions he had throughout the years. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, gardening, working with his beloved Kubota tractor - definitely not a Deere - and spending time with his chainsaw close by. Above all else, he loved children and treasured the time spent with his family.
Visiting hours were held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic, NB on Friday, May 29, 2026 from 12 noon until 2 pm, followed by the funeral service at 2 pm with Pastors Rick McFadyen and Paul Legere officiating. A eulogy was delivered by Danny's daughter Shelly. Music was supplied by soloist Linda MacFarlane and pianist Tanya Legere. A reception followed at the funeral home. Interment took place at Nackawic Cemetery, Upper Queensbury, NB.
For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Danny, the family has suggested the Nackawic Cemetery or the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation.
