1954-2026

Leon Ray Christie Leon Ray Christie
Leon Ray Christie of Temperance Vale, NB passed away on May 28, 2026. He was born on October 29, 1954 in Woodstock, NB, a son of the late Ray and Marie (Reed) Christie.

He is survived by his wife, Judy (Hawkins) Christie; children, Derek Christie (Shelly) and Michelle Clark (Jeff); grandchildren, Olivia and Grace Christie, Kyle, Riley and Mallory Clark; a brother Edwin Christie (Linda); three brothers-in-law, Donnie Carr, Allison Hawkins and Charles Hawkins; a sister-in-law Betty Albright (Paul); several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Leon was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Pansy Carr and Celia Sharp (late Stephen); an infant brother Aubrey Christie and a nephew Marty Sharp.

Leon grew up on the family farm with one brother and two sisters. At age 20 he was working as a mechanic at the family Esso garage with his father and brother, then working for Bobby Stairs followed by fulltime employment at Ste. Anne Nackawic Pulp & Paper Mill in 1976. While working fulltime, he still had time to work part time at Nackawic Mechanical and as a Truck Driver. Leon retired in 2020.

He also worked ‘full-time’ restoring his 1955 F100 truck, being a valuable neighborhood mechanic and handyman, where customers became close friends. His Passion/Hobby was racing and he won many trophies racing snowmobiles, stock cars, drag cars and lawn tractors. He also had a passion he shared with his father, restoring Oliver Tractors. They’d find broken tractors, buy them, restore them to service as fully functional.

Husband to Judy for 52 years, they loved to go to all the different food trucks and all the car shows. As a father, he was always there to answer the call and fix anything on his family’s cars or homes. As a grandparent, he was one half of the “Super Fans”, never missing a soccer game, volleyball match or ringette game. He volunteered on the Temperance Vale Cemetery Committee and Senior Meal Delivery of Nackawic Area Wellness.

Visiting hours were held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic, NB on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 from 12 noon until 3 pm. The funeral service was held at 3 pm from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Ryan Farrell officiating. A eulogy was delivered by Leon's son-in-law Jeff with scripture and remarks by Arwood Kaley.
