John Sterling Christie
John S. Christie of Temperance Vale passed away unexpectedly at the Upper River Valley Hospital, Waterville on June 12, 2008. Born at Pinder, NB in 1925, he was a son of the late George and Celia (Harris) Christie. John had worked for 32 years with the Department of Transportation. He loved his pet dog and enjoyed camping at Connell Park.


John is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Grant) Christie; one daughter, Charlene Alward, Woodstock; six sons, Jimmy Christie (Raylene), Saint John, Jackie Christie (Bonnie), Hanwell, Dean Christie, Crabbe Mountain, Curtis Christie (Mary Ann), Waterville, Dennis Christie (Lise), Woodstock and Keith Christie (Heather), Woodstock; a step-son, Gerry Price (Elaine), Hartfield; a brother, Fred Christie (Alta), Waterville; three sisters, Joyce Thornton (Arnold), Waterville, Vesta Thornton, Somerville and Grace Bragdon, Stairs Hill; eighteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.


In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his first wife, Nellie (McElwain) Christie; sisters, Ada Trail, Doris MacDonald, Ella Gray; brothers, Harold, Ray, Robert, Perley and Austin Christie and a granddaughter, Carrie Dawn Christie.


Visiting hours will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 15, 2008 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bob Johnson and Rev. Terry Brewer officiating Interment in Temperance Vale Cemetery.


Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters.

Active pallbearers will be Corey Christie, John Christie, Ryan Alward, Jesse Price, Cody Price and Donald Wolverton.


For those who wish to make a donation in memory of John, the family has suggested the Temperance Vale Cemetery, Lenentine Cemetery or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
