Merlin Erroll Mooers

Merlin E. Mooers of Bear Island, NB passed away August 25, 2008 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born in Bear Island in 1923, Merlin was a son of the late William and Lena (Moore) Mooers. During his working years he was employed at several locations, including the building of the Mactaquac Dam, operating the Parent ferry, Thermofoam Manufacturing, carpentry work and retired from work with NB Power. Merlin enjoyed hunting and was a member and deacon of the Bear Island Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Phyllis B. (Hagerman) Mooers; his children, Stephen Mooers (Sherrie), Bear Island, NB, Cheryl Foisy (Ron), Timmins, ON, Stanley Mattatall (Marlene), Bear Island, NB and Charles Mattatall (Sheila), Zealand; his grandchildren, William Mooers (Alicia), Chanchez Mooers (Sterling), André DesRosiers, Daniel DesRosiers, Chantale DesRosiers, Michael Mattatall, Timothy Mattatall (Rebecca) and Christopher Mattatall (Nicole); great grandchildren, Trina, Ashley, Tyson, Jorjah, Dominick, Alex and Aadon; a brother, Waldon Mooers, Temperance Vale, NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Merlin was predeceased by two infant sons.

Visiting hours will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the funeral home chapel on Thursday, August 28, 2008 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Ralph Irving officiating. Interment will be in Bear Island Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Michael Mattatall, Timothy Mattatall, Christopher Mattatall, William Mooers, Sherling Shaw and nephew, John Monteith.
